Dr. Nejat was born in Cambridge, Maryland, and moved to New Jersey in 1975.
He attended college at Drew University and continued his education at New York University where he attained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and graduated with membership to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. Upon completion of his dental degree, Dr. Nejat attended the Stony Brook University for a three-year specialty training program in Periodontics and Dental Implants. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Nejat earned his certificate in Periodontics. Following his residency he returned to New York University as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Implant Dentistry.
In addition to his professorship at New York University, Dr. Nejat maintains private practices in Manhattan and Nutley, New Jersey.
Education is important to Dr. Nejat, he is active in professional continuing education. He is a course instructor in various continuing educational seminars, symposiums to universities, and dental societies on topics including:
Computer Guided Dental Implant Surgery
Minimally Invasive Dental Implant Surgery
Aesthetic Implant Surgery
Immediate Loading of Dental Implants
Periodontal Medicine with Systemic Health Implications
Periodontal Plastic Surgery.
More recently Dr. Nejat published a continuing education article titled “Periodontal Inflammation: The Oral Body connection”, through an educational grant form Colgate. This peer-reviewed publication was designed to help the dentist, hygienist, and dental assistant understand the relationship between periodontal disease and the rest of the body.
Dr. Nejat was a Research Investigator on two major projects: (1) A Pivotal, Randomized, Parallel Evaluation of rhBMP-2/ACS and Standard Bone Grafting Materials for Maxillary Sinus Floor Augmentation, and (2) a Multi-center Phase 3 Trail of Minocycline Periodontal Therapeutic System (Minocycline PTS): Adjunctive Use in Patients with Adult Periodontitis.
Dr. Nejat is currently involved in numerous clinical research projects on such topics of flapless dental implant surgery, minimally invasive periodontal plastic surgeries, and computer guided dental implant surgery with immediate function.
Dr. Nejat is a board certified by the American Board of Periodontology.
